So honored to be in conversation with Jonathan Lethem, a beloved author, for the Brooklyn Rail during its 25th anniversary week and following this significant election moment in NYC. We explored the release of his new collection A Different Kind of Tension: New and Selected Stories, talking AI, the Buzzcocks, literary influences, space colonization, and more. While Tension is a collection of surreal short fiction, his other recent release, Cellophane Bricks: A Life in Visual Culture, is a striking assemblage of reflections on the artworks that inspire him, and a personal favorite. A special thanks to BR Books Editor Joseph Salvatore for his editorial guidance. Read it here!
